Frequently asked questions
Why is Story Theme not on the Shopify Theme Store?
The Theme Store caps what a theme may do and only allows one-off licence sales.
Concretely, a section like the before/after comparator or the cart drawer with a bump would not pass their review as it stands. And a one-off licence makes continuous updates impossible to fund: the theme would be frozen at its release version.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. The subscription has no commitment: no minimum term, no notice period.
You keep access to the theme until the end of the period you have already paid for, then nothing renews. That is also what makes the trial risk-free: if you stop before the seventh day, nothing happens.
What happens if I stop my subscription?
Story Theme is a subscription, not a file you buy once. If the subscription stops, the theme stops working on your store.
Nothing is lost for all that: your products, your orders, your customers and your pages belong to your Shopify account and are untouched. You publish another theme and your store is back online. It is the theme that stops, not your business. You keep access until the end of the period already paid for.
What happens to my store if I change my mind during the trial?
It stays exactly as it is. A theme on trial does not replace the one you have published.
Story Theme installs alongside your current theme: you compose in draft while your store keeps running on the old one. If you stop within the seven days, there is nothing to undo. And if you had already published Story Theme, republishing the old one is enough: it stayed in your theme library.
Is Story Theme right for me?
It is built for a store that already sells and whose presentation no longer keeps up, and just as much for one that is starting out.
If you are starting out, you begin with a store that is already built: the sections that sell are in place from day one, with nothing to catch up on later. If you already sell, it is the presentation you are bringing up to standard, without touching your catalogue.
Does the theme work if I sell a single product?
Yes. One of the four demo stores on this page is a single-product store.
The sections that matter when everything rests on one product are in the theme: before/after comparison, bundle with variants, customer reviews, stock bar. They serve a wide catalogue just as well, with collection pages on top.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Everything is composed in the Shopify editor, with the mouse.
If you do know how to code, nothing stops you: the theme is standard Liquid, and a custom-code section is there for exactly that.
How long does it take to install and get comfortable?
Installing takes a few minutes, and the editor is quick to get the hang of.
Plenty of videos follow the build of a complete store from end to end, and support answers as soon as you get stuck on a setting.
Can I use it on several stores?
Depending on the plan: one store on Standard, up to three on Plus, multiple licences on Business.
I run an agency, can I transfer the licence to my client?
The Business plan is built for agencies and freelancers, with an unlimited number of connected stores.
What does support cover?
Email support handled by the team that builds the theme.

Can I try it without a Shopify store?
You need a Shopify store to install a theme, but it can be brand new and empty.
Shopify offers its own trial. You create the store, install Story Theme on it and start composing without having put anything up for sale.

Yes. A Shopify theme installs alongside your current one, without touching your products, your orders or your customers.
You compose quietly in draft, and you publish when you are happy with the result. Your old theme stays available for as long as you do not delete it.
Are my data and my products affected by the installation?
No. A theme touches neither your products, nor your orders, nor your customers.
All of that belongs to your Shopify account and lives outside the theme, which only displays it. Installing, publishing or deleting a theme changes none of that data. What you risk losing when you change theme is the layout settings of the old one, not your catalogue.
Is it compatible with my current apps?
Yes. It is a standard Shopify theme, your apps keep working.
Most of them simply become unnecessary: reviews, bundles, countdowns, size guides and cart drawers are already in the theme. You cancel them at your own pace.
How do updates work?
Every new version is available from your member area, with its own update tool.
The roadmap is public: you can see what has shipped and what is coming before you update.
Is the theme translated?
Yes, the theme’s storefront interface is translated into several languages, including English and French.
Does the theme handle multiple currencies and languages?
Currencies and languages are handled by Shopify; the theme shows the selectors and follows the visitor’s market.
